Hugh Boyd Davenport, 74, of Newberry, widower of Sylvia Bedenbaugh Davenport, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at J.F. Hawkins Health Care.
Born on July 30, 1938, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Annie Elizabeth Pitts Davenport. He retired from Marion E. Pitts Logging and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Hugh loved fishing.
He is survived by his son, Hugh Boyd Davenport, Jr. of Columbia. He was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia; and daughter, Kathy D. Wicker. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, April 8, 2013, at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Hugh Bickley. Visitation will be Sunday from 7:00 - 8:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1167 Trinity Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
