J. W. Farmer

John Wesley “J.W.” Farmer, 97, of Newberry, died Thursday, December 8, 2022, at White Oak Manor.

Born on March 17, 1925, in Greenwood, he was the son of the late John Edward and Essie Butler Farmer. He was retired from Kendall Company, Oakland Plant and was a member of Glenn Street Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Farmer is survived by his sons, Wayne (Gail) Farmer of Camden and Michael Farmer of Newberry; sisters, Marvoureen Morris and Sheila (Jimmie) Harmon both of Newberry; grandchildren, Sally Farmer and Rusty (Anna) Farmer both of Newberry, Rebecca Goodman of Lexington, Brian Farmer of Camden and Janet (Justin) Davenport of Silverstreet; great-grandchildren, Logan Ehney of Lexington, Preston (Brooke) Farmer of Union, Al Farmer of Newberry, Noah Davenport and Hannah Davenport both of Silverstreet; daughter-in-law, Mary F. Smith  and his special four legged companion, Sunny. He was predeceased by his wife, Inez King Farmer, a son, Steven W. Farmer, brothers, Mark E. Farmer, Ira T. Farmer, Hugh M. Farmer and J. Rufus Farmer and sisters, Annie Sue Crumpton and Mavis Livingston.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, December 12, 2022, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home by the Rev. Camden Bagwell. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made ALS Association,130 Gardeners Circle, PMB 622, Johns Island, SC 29455.

Active pallbearers will be Steve Neese, Preston Farmer, Al Farmer, Justin Davenport, Noah Davenport and Greg Harmon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rusty Farmer and Brian Farmer.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of White Oak Manor for their loving care given to J.W.
