James "Jim" Abrams

James Clair “Jim” Abrams, 69, of Newberry, passed away on Thursday, August 1st, 2024.

Born in Newberry on August 18th, 1954, Jim was the son of the late Wallace and Katherine McConnell Abrams. Jim never met a stranger and always saw the best in everyone. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his daughter and grandkids, his extended family, and doing whatever he could to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Jim was an electrician by trade, enjoyed playing the harmonica, and was lovingly called “Fuzzy” and “Cotton” by his many friends and “Pappy” by his grandchildren who adored him.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Josh Cromer, his four grandchildren Kate, Steinway, Lennox and Jules Cromer, his sister and brother-in-law Susan and Keith Hill, his brother Dan Abrams, and his nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:30 pm on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Jim’s family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516. A donation form is available through the link here.
