James Edward Amick, 69, of Lexington, died Saturday, July 28, 2018, at his residence.

Born on October 20, 1948 in Chapin, he was a son of the late Ansel O. and Lillian Shealy Amick. He was a machinist for 45 years with Harsco Rail and was a member of Laurel Baptist of West Columbia. Mr. Amick had served in the S.C. National Guard.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marsha Snipes Amick; a son, Corey Amick of Lexington; a daughter, Kelly A. Bullard of Lexington; sisters, Evelyn A. Harmon, Doris A. White and Betty A. Hyler all of Prosperity and Barbara A. Chapman of Chapin; brothers, Donald R. Amick and Carroll M. Amick both of Prosperity; a granddaughter, Rylee D. Bullard. He was predeceased by a brother, Harvey O. Amick.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Laurel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 2:00 until the hour of service at the church. Memorials may be made to Laurel Baptist Church, 2250 Pine Street, West Columbia, SC 29170.

Active pallbearers will be Terry Snipes, Wayne Ellisor, Al Goodwin, Tim Harmon, Stacey Amick, Kevin Chapman, Ricky Sexton and Bryan Amick.

Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews and all current and former employees of Harsco Rail Machine Shop.
