James "Jim" Ballantyne

James “Jim” Calvert Ballantyne, Jr., 68, of Prosperity, died Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Prisma Health Richland.

Born on February 23, 1954, in Savannah, GA, he was a the son of the late James Calvert Ballantyne, Sr. and Ethel Elaine Blitch Ballantyne. He was a retired mechanical drafter. Mr. Ballantyne was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church where he had been involved with the Lutheran Men and was a former Sunday School Teacher. He also loved volunteering as a Cub Scout leader and leader trainer for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Penny Hunter Ballantyne; sons, James (Kateland) Ballantyne, III of Columbia and Jared Ballantyne of Prosperity and a sister, Linda (Calvin) Bryant of Oklahoma City, OK.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, September 29, 2022, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.
