James "Jim" Waldrop

James "Jim" Waldrop

James “Jim” Waldrop went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 26, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 11, 1944, in Newberry, SC. Son of Ralph Davis and Mary Adams Waldrop. He was a graduate of Newberry High School and received his degree in Home AC/HC at Greenville Technical College. He returned home after earning his degree and followed his passion for farming joining his father on the family farm, and eventually they formed Ralph Waldrop and Sons. He was a jack of all trades and had a passion for doing it all.

He was a Free Mason and a proud member of the Shriners. He learned how to fly small planes. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and especially loved quail hunting, and he loved to share his quail hunting skills with others. He was a Councilman on the Dairy Farmers of America and was later a member of the Corporate Board, he was awarded the Distinguished Cooperator of the Year in 2005 by the South Carolina Corporation Council. He was President of Sudia now call the Dairy Alliance for five years. He loved his family and friends, and his church Trinity United Methodist Church of Newberry. He had been a Lay Leader at Trinity since 2002.

He is survived by his wife Dixie Livingston Waldrop; his children Jeannie Waldrop, Lou Ann (Scott) Wery, Ralph (Nina) Waldrop. His grandchildren Coleman Waldrop, Roxanne Wery, Ralph “Davis” Waldrop III, Cierra Wery, Anna Grace Waldrop, and Vara Wery; brother Bill (Dianne) Waldrop and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jeff O'Dell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service .

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1160 Trinity Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.

The family would like to especially thank Janet Davenport, RN and Sandy Dewalt for their help in caring for Jim at the end of his journey through life.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Amick, Tim Gallman, Donnie “Duck” Wilson, Brett Bannister, Charles Andrew “Andy” Lominick, and Ralph “Davis” Waldrop III.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Black and Jerry Havird.
