James R. O'Donnell, Sr.

James Robert O'Donnell, Sr., 72, of Newberry, died Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Palmetto Health Richland.

Born on September 10, 1941, in Washington, DC, he was a son of the late William James and Alvina R ö ssler O'Donnell. He was a Navy veteran, retired from Ellett Brothers and was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church.

Mr. O'Donnell is survived by his wife, Brenda M. O'Donnell; a son, Rob (Michelle) O'Donnell of Chester; a daughter, Angela M. (Stanley) O'Donnell Parrish of Rock Hill; a sister, Margaret Ann Pilesky of California, MD; brothers, William K. O'Donnell of Leonardtown, MD and Patrick O'Donnell of Rock Hill; grandchildren, Kayley O'Donnell, Will O'Donnell, Bailey Parrish and Carson Parrish.

A vigil will be held Thursday, August 7, 2014, at 6:30 pm St. Mark Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held Friday, August 8, 2014, at 3:00 pm at St. Mark Catholic Church by Father Arnulfo Jara. Memorials may be made to St. Mark Catholic Church Building Fund, 928 Boundary Street, Newberry, SC 29108 or to the Newberry County Animal Shelter, 11494 SC Highway 34, Newberry, SC 29108.
