James “Worm” Daniel Southerland, 63, of Little Mountain, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.

Born on January 27, 1963, in Prosperity, he was the son of James Edward and Joyce Juanita Amick Southerland. James was a 1981 graduate of Mid Carolina High School and had worked for Flex. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.

He was also an avid, die-hard Clemson fan. He loved fishing and hunting. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. James was the rock of his family.

James is survived by his wife, Debra Gantt Southerland; his parents, James and Juanita Southerland of Little Mountain; sisters, Sheryl Wicker and Cindy (Shawn) Vodila both of Little Mountain; sister-in-law, Patty Freytag of Lexington; grandchildren, Sonya Morrison and Sarah Morrison; nieces, Katie Humphries, Nicole Vodila, Holly Schuetterle and Shanna Shealy and six great nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, NIcklas Carl Southerland.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, March 29, 2026, at St. Peter Lutheran Church by the Rev. Chris Metze. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Those attending the service are encouraged to wear Clemson attire or Clemson colors - orange and purple.

Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Edward Lindler, Bud Dowd, Allen Farr, John “June” Lindler, David Connelly, Kenny Webber and Steve Childers.
