Jamey Rogers Guy, 43, of 924 Phoenix Street, Greenwood and 102 Guy Farm Circle, Kinards, died Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Self Regional Healthcare.

Born in Newberry, he was a son of Gayle McKittrick Guy Leach and the late James Wayne Guy. Jamey was a graduate of Newberry High School and Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta. He served his apprenticeship with McSwain-Evans Funeral Home in Newberry and worked his entire career, serving the families of Greenwood with Harley Funeral Home and Crematory for 20 years. He earned the designation of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner and Certified Crematory Operator, both from NFDA. Jamey also worked with Greenwood Magazine and he and his brother, David, operated their family farm, raising cows and making pork sausage, which was enjoyed by all who tasted it.

Jamey was a member of the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association, the Greenwood Sertoma Club, Greenwood Chamber of Commerce’s Connect YP, served on the steering committee for the SC Festival of Flowers and was a life member of the NRA. He was a member of Little River-Dominick Presbyterian Church.

Jamey was an avid Clemson fan and was a huge fan of the Grateful Dead. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with all of them, especially his son, Reid.

Surviving are his mother, Gaye, and her husband, Thom Leach, of Newberry; his son, Reid McKittrick Guy of Greenwood; his girlfriend, Angie Smith Fair and her children, Andi Fair and Alex Fair, of Greenwood; his brothers, David Guy (Stacy) of Kinards and Don Guy (Marian) of Silverstreet; nieces, Brittany Pitts and Riley Guy; nephew, Brendon Guy; great nieces, Madison Pitts and Danielle Guy; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, including his aunt and uncle, Gloria and Keith Owens of Kinards and cousin, Kitty Mayer of Newberry.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Ninety Six with the Rev. Chuck Sprouse and the Rev. Stanley Sprouse officiating. A private burial will be held at Little River-Dominick Presbyterian Church Cemetery and officiated by Pastor Dan Ratchford.

Pallbearers will be Wylie Neel, Todd Pierce, John Alewine, Curt Gunderson, Marc Kanapaux and Eric Nolting.

Honorary escort will be the staff (current and former) of Harley Funeral Home and Crematory and members of the Greenwood Sertoma Club.

The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
