Janis Dominick Metts, 76, of Chapin, went to be with her Savior on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at her home.

Born on April 5, 1950 in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Harold “Shine” and Dorothy Cannon Dominick. Janis worked for Metts Furniture Company for a number of years. She later served as a business manager at NU 92 Radio and also WACH TV 57 where she retired. Janis enjoyed taking trips to the beach. She was a gardener, and enjoyed working with her plants and flowers around her home. She loved her dogs dearly and treasured their companionship. Janis loved being able to spend time with her grandchildren, and that brought her the most joy.

She is survived by her husband, Johnnie Emlon Metts; a son, Jonathan Metts and his wife, Emily, of Prosperity; sisters, Phyllis Bradley and husband, Melvin, of Saluda, Peggy Barnes of Prosperity, and Traci Dominick of Landrum; and her grandchildren, Emma Metts and Nolin Metts.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 17, 2026 from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
