James LeRoy Gugel, 86, of Newberry, died on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at his home.

Born on July 26, 1939, in Springfield, MO, he was a son of the late Francis Emerton and Mabel Irene Kitchen Gugel. Jim was a dairy farmer and a member of St. James Lutheran Church. He was a member of the American Jersey Cattle Club.

Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma Jean “Jeanie” Anderson Gugel; a son, Terry L. (Brenda) Gugel of Newberry; a sister, Edith Reed of Willard, MO; brothers, John Gugel of Springfield, MO, Richard Gugel, Michael Gugel and Sam Gugel all of Willard, MO and Wayne Gugel of Billings, MO; four step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Alice Lowery and a brother, Charles Gugel.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Rev. Rodney Gunter. The family will receive friends following the service.
