Jim Humphries

James “Jim” Wyattman Humphries, 70 of Newberry died July 21, 2011, at his residence.

Born on January 21, 1941 in Cleveland County, NC, he was a son of the late William and Bruna Davis Humphries. He was retired from Georgia Pacific, an avid fisherman and cook, and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He served in the United States Navy for four years.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Humphries; sons, James “Jim” Humphries and fiancé, Loretta Bauer and Phillip Humphries and fiancé, Vickey Ryan all of Shelby, NC; daughters, Lucy Keeter and husband, Billy of Gastonia, NC, Sherry Davis and husband, Bobby of Shelby, NC; three step-sons, a step-daughter, brother, Gerald Humphries and his wife, Donice of Shelby, NC; a sister, Ray Beaver of Shelby, NC, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, a step-son, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. at the Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011, prior to the service at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain, NC.
