Joan Bobb Shealy, 93, of Newberry, widow of Clarence A. Shealy, Jr., passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the Saluda Nursing Center.

Born on July 20, 1932, in Newberry, she was the daughter of the late Aumerl Samuel and Sallie Mack Bobb. Mrs. Shealy was a graduate of Newberry College and worked for over 40 years in the banking industry in Newberry. She began her working career with Newberry County Bank and then worked as the banks merged over the years with Bankers Trust, NCNB, Nations Bank and retired as an assistant vice president with Bank of America.

She grew up in the West End Community of Newberry where she was reared in West End Baptist Church. She played the piano and organ while at West End. She later was a member of Epting Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a faithful choir member and played the piano and organ when needed. At Epting she was a member of the Mary Addison Circle.

Mrs. Shealy was also a member of the Colonial Dames and the Daughter’s of the Confederacy.

She is survived by a son, C.A. (Tracie) Shealy III of Prosperity; a daughter, Sue Ellen Shealy of Newberry; granddaughters, Katherine Shealy (Joey Levine) of San Mateo, CA and Jennifer Shealy (Dr. Seth Cline) of Charlotte, NC. She was predeceased by a brother, Lewis Bobb.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. William Hightower. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the hour of service at the funeral home.
