Joanne Halfacre Hutto

Our sweet Momma, Joanne Halfacre Hutto, passed away June 1, 2025 at the young age of 92 years old. She is survived by her two children: Clarence Claude Hutto, III (Molly) of Prides Crossing, Massachusetts, Sarah Jo Hutto Funkhouser (David) Mint Hill, NC; grandchildren: Laura Harvell (Matt) of Colorado, JoJo Hutto (Mint Hill, NC), Luke Funkhouser (York, SC) and grandogs Waffles and Maddox. She was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Clarence Claude Hutto, Jr.

Mom also leaves this world, special.peoplein her life, Linda Pittman, Ezra Hall and Cindy Hutto.

Mom was born in Newberry County, SC to John Howe Halfacre and Bessie Lominack Halfacre and sister, Doris Bickley. Mom graduated from Newberry High School, where she received the D.A.R. Good Citizens Award, Miss His Miss, Vice President of the SCSPA and Editor in Chief of the school newspaper, The Cordial. Joanne was an accomplished tennis player, an avid runner, winning 2nd place in her age division in the Charlotte Observer marathon. Mom was a fabulous cook, seamstress and artist. She is most proud of her family above and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a 10:00 am visitation on Saturday, June 7 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am at Mackey at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville SC 29609. A burial at Rosemont Cemetery in Newberry SC will follow at 2:30 pm and is being handled by McSwain-Evans Funeral Home of Newberry.

We also must give gratitude beyond measure to all the humans at The Woodlands at Furman, Dr. Jana Morse and Nurse Deleena Flood with Partner MD and Interim Hospice of Greenville SC.
