Martha Jo “Jodie” White Boozer Black, 84, of Prosperity, died on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at her home.

Born on July 25, 1941, in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Ione Poteat White. Jodie worked in the sewing room and later at Boundary Street Elementary cafeteria. She was a member of Colony Lutheran Church.

Jodie is survived by her husband, George Black; a son, Randy Black of Newberry; a daughter, Ann (Grady) Wicker of Newberry; a son-in-law, Doug Graham of Pomaria; a sister, Faye Gore of Newberry; grandchildren, Michelle (J.R.) Busby, Jeff Wicker, Dena (Jeff) Gossett, Jennifer (David) Hix, Meagan (Rajiv) Kumar, Nikki (Mitch) Williams, Amy (Robert) Driggers and Katie (Drew) Perry; twenty-four great-grandchildren and two great-great-children.

She was predeceased by her first husband, William “Bill” Boozer, sons, Dean Boozer and Dean Black, a daughter, Lynn Black, sisters, Libby Rose, Helen Morris and Juanita Duffie, brothers, J.K. White and Olin White and a granddaughter, Heather Black.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, July 17, 2026, at Colony Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Hundley. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

The family suggests that memorials be made to Colony Lutheran Church Organ Fund, 48 Colony Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Jeff Wicker, Ronnie Riding, Wayne Nichols, Joshua Riding, Kevin Crouch, Marty White, Travis Poole and Doug Graham.
