Joe Cockrell

Joe Arthur Cockrell, 65, of Newberry, died Friday, December 17, 2021, at Prisma Health Laurens.

Born on September 13, 1956, in Saluda, he was a son of the late Lewis Frank Cockrell and Fannie Mae Still Young. He was a painter.

Mr. Cockrell is survived by daughters, Candace Bouknight, Jodi Cockrell Salas and Amy Cockrell Rico; sisters, Sylvia Parris, Cindy Cockrell Price, Rosemary Cockrell and Cathy Burdette; brothers, Jay Cockrell, Robert Cockrell and Kevin Cockrell; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, December 20, 2021, at Bethlehem Union Church Cemetery in Waterloo officiated by Rita Crawford. Visitation will be be Sunday from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
