Joseph “Joe” Seaborn Dill, age 72, of Newberry, SC passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026.

Born in Jacksonville, NC, Joe was the son of the late William Winston Dill and Florence Marie Weeks Dill. He grew up in High Point, NC where he graduated from T. Wingate Andrews High School.

Joe dedicated more than 30 years of service to the City of High Point Parks and Recreation Department, where he took great pride in the care of public parks and maintaining equipment. Following his retirement from the City, he continued working in the transportation and construction industries.

He is survived by his loving partner, Vicki Hendrix; daughters Jessica (Alan) Gidney of Morrisville, NC and Jennifer (Johnny) Ellison of Ashburn, VA and their mother Kathy Simmons Dill; grandkids Joey Dill, Kahri and EJ Gidney, James and Jenna Ellison along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and cherished dogs, Doodle and Squirt.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Bobbie Ray Dill and Billy Joe (Bill) Dill.

Joe had a deep love for his family and cherished every opportunity to spend time with his grandkids, nieces, nephews and friends. He appreciated the simple things in life. If you stopped by, there was a good chance music was playing in the background. He loved the heartfelt storytelling of John Prine, the unmistakable voice of Leon Redbone, the legendary sound of Queen, and just about any classic rock station you could tune in. Music was the soundtrack to his life and made every drive, cookout, and gathering a little more memorable. He never turned down authentic North Carolina barbecue, and he had a lifelong love affair with his Ford F-150. Whether he was behind the wheel, lending a helping hand, or talking trucks with friends, Joe believed there simply wasn’t a better truck on the road. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of a formal funeral service, a celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a later date. A heart disease survivor, Joe suffered a heart attack in his 40s. We are forever grateful for the 30 extra years we were given with him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Newberry County Humane Society, P.O. Box 485, Newberry, SC or Saving Saluda Strays in Joe’s honor.
