John Edgar Pollard, 81, of Silverstreet, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026, at White Oak Manor.
Born on September 24, 1944, in Moultrie, GA, he was a son of the late Henry Guy and Estelle Elizabeth Walker Pollard. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War where he served two tours of duty. John retired as a manager from ISE America. He was a big supporter of the Silverstreet Fire Department where he was a volunteer fireman going on 60 years. He had previously served as the fire chief. John also served on the Newberry County Fire Control Board and was a member of the Newberry County Fireman’s Association.
He faithfully served as a deputy coroner for Newberry County during the Coroner Craig Newton tenure.
John was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 87 A.F.M. He enjoyed simple things and was always there to help those within his community when needed.
He found great pleasure in his many cruising adventures having traveled to many memorable destinations over the years.
He is survived by his sister, Faye Morris of Newberry; a brother, Robert Pollard of Newberry and a number of nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased in addition to his wife, JoAnn Pollard by a daughter, Kimberly Pollard and a brother, Tommie Pollard.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Myra Taylor. The services will include Masonic Rites and S.C. Fire Fighters Association Honors.
The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that those desiring may make memorials to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1167 Trinity Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Barry Senn, Johnnie Pitts, Sr., Craig Newton, Sheriff Lee Foster, Scott Garrett and Craig Kesler.
