John Henry Rankin, 77, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026. He was born on July 23, 1949, to the late Annie Mae Sligh Rankin and Henry S. Rankin.

John worked at Kaywood Shutter Plant for more than 30 years. He enjoyed being outdoors and especially cherished hosting and attending family gatherings, where he shared laughter, made memories, and enjoyed spending time with those he loved.

John was a longtime member of Cannon’s Creek-Prosperity A.R.P. Church, where he faithfully served as an Elder for many years. His strong faith and love for his church family were an important part of his life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyene L. Rankin; his children, Vicky Lindler (Edgar Jr.) and Keith Henry Rankin (Kayla); and his grandchildren, Corey Ethan Lindler, Emersyn Grace Lindler, Kaitlyn Noelle Rankin, Lillie Mae Rankin, and Gabriel John Rankin. He is also survived by his sister, Annie Livingston (David).

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings, Dorothy Rankin, Peggy Garrett, Bobby Rankin, and Boyd Rankin.

John was lovingly cared for by Keonda Caughman, whose care and kindness will always be remembered and appreciated by his family.

The funeral service for John Henry Rankin will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Cannon’s Creek-Prosperity A.R.P. Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Corey Ethan Lindler, accompanied by Gabriel John Rankin, Kenneth Bundrick, Phillip Orne, Tommy Nichols, Justin Davenport, and Jared Shealy.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the past and present Elders and Deacons of Cannon’s Creek-Prosperity A.R.P. Church.

The family will be at the home of Edgar and Vicky Lindler.

John will be deeply missed by his family, church family, and all who knew and loved him. His hardworking spirit, strong faith, love for the outdoors, and devotion to his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. The memories he created with his loved ones will be treasured forever.
