John Wade McFate

John Wade McFate, 76, of Newberry, died Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on July 2, 1943 in Kosciusko, MS a son of the late Duncan Frazier McFate and Fayette Wade Adams. Mr. McFate was a retired truck driver and enjoyed fishing, traveling, dancing and visiting with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Nation McFate; sons, Duncan McFate, Arthur McFate, Ronald Smith and Jerry Gosnell; daughters, Samantha Rucker, Elizabeth McFate and Nikki Bedenbaugh; a sister, Sharon Neeley; twenty-two grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Mr. McFate was predeceased by a sisters, Clara Goode and Edna Winn and a brother, Fred McFate.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home by the Rev. Dan Lewis. Memorials may be made to a church or charity of one's choice.
