Johnny Allen Buice, age 69, of Chappells, SC passed away peacefully at his daughter's house, surrounded by the love of his family after a long illness.
Born on April 15, 1956 in Cumming, Georgia, Johnny was a son, father, brother, and friend who left a lasting mark on all who knew him. He was known for his quiet strength, his deep love of the land, and his unwavering commitment to his family.
He spent many years serving his community as a member and elder at Little River Dominick Presbyterian Church in Kinards, SC as well as the Chappells Volunteer Fire Department and countless other efforts.
Johnny graduated from Newberry High School and Piedmont Technical College and spent much of his life working in manufacturing, particularly at McKechnie and Kraft/Heinz while also operating a family farm. He found joy in the simple, steady rhythm of rural life. Whether he was feeding cows, tinkering with farm equipment, or sharing a story from years gone by, he lived in tune with the world around him. He also enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places.
More than anything, Johnny loved his family. He was a father who showed up—with his hands, his presence, and his quiet example. He was a man of few words but deep values, who taught those around him the meaning of kindness, hard work, and a life well lived.
He is survived by his children, daughter Julie Upton [Tim Upton], son Allen Buice [Michael Mitchell], grandchildren Evie, Ava, and Ella Upton and his sister Jackie Boozer [Sam Boozer].
Johnny was predeceased by his mother, Mary Madeline Lanier, father Zenith Emmett Buice, his wife of 40 years Linda Boozer Buice, and his daughter Leslie Elizabeth Buice.
Memorial services will be held at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel in Newberry, SC. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in his memory.
