Joyce Winn

Joyce Monts Winn a much loved mother, grandmother and mimi passed away at White Oak Manor on Sunday, January 10, 2021.

Mrs. Winn was predeceased by her first husband, Daniel D. Monts, Sr. and her second husband, David B. Winn. She was born in Augusta, Georgia and graduated from Tubman High School and Augusta Junior College. She was the daughter of the late Gary Maryland and Magnolia “Maggie” Lila Martin. In 1993 she retired from the SC Employment Security Commission where she was a much loved and respected employee. She was a member of North Treholm Baptist Church in Columbia.

Her hobbies were enjoying wildlife in her backyard, going to the mountains with her daughter, finding “treasurers” at thrift stores and enjoying her many plants and flowers.

Mrs. Winn is survived by her daughter, Lynn “Montsie” (Danny) Yarborough; her son, Daniel D. (Shirley) Monts, Jr.; grandchildren, Brent Monts (Danielle) Yarborough, Katie Lynn (Dale) Merritt, Megan Elizabeth Monts, and Hallie Marie Monts. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Brady Ward Yarborough, Blair McKinley Yarborough, Kilah Rose Merritt, Kaylyn Olivia Merritt, Fiona Adelle Carroll-Monts, and Azelie Wren Carroll-Monts.

Mrs. Winn gifted her body to MUSC. Due to COVID, no service will be held at this time.
