Keith Wayne Shealy, 75, of Newberry died Saturday, July 3, 2010 at his residence.

Born in Prosperity on April 28, 1935, he was a son of the late Otway and Ina Mae Wise Shealy. He was retired from the South Carolina Department of Transportation and was a Navy Veteran having served on the U.S.S. Claude V. Ricketts. He was an active member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Millie Hamby Sunday School Class and formerly served on the Board of Trustees. He enjoyed his grandchildren and biking. He was a member of Carolina Cyclist and Three Wheelers of Spartanburg.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy King Shealy; two sons, Dalton Shealy and his wife Helen of Virginia Beach, VA, and Anthony Shealy and his wife Freda of Laurens; a daughter, Denise Poteat and her husband Dave of Newberry; two sisters, Jane Wicker of Prosperity, and Sandra Gilliam of West Columbia; and a brother, Ethan Shealy of Chapin; grandchildren, Casey Lybrand, Erika Roberts, Nicholas Shealy, Kristopher Shealy, Ashley Mendenhall, Bryant Shealy, and Chrissy Shealy; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jimmy Counts and Rev. Bruce Palmer. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family is at his residence and will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, 1105 First Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
