Kent Lester, 68, of Chapin, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at his home.

Born on April 1, 1955, in Newberry, Kent leaves behind a legacy that spans both his career and personal life.

Kent was known for being an entrepreneur as the former owner of Holiday Kamper, and Boats Outdoor RV and Marine World. With dedication and tireless effort, he built a thriving business that catered to the outdoor enthusiast community. Through his business ventures, Kent touched the lives of countless individuals who shared his love for the great outdoors.

Beyond his professional achievements, Kent possessed a zest for life that inspired all who knew him. He had a deep affection for Lake Murray and enjoyed fishing while on Lake Murray and also when visiting Beaufort.

Kent experienced a great deal of life while exploring various travel destinations. Whether it was embarking on spontaneous road trips or venturing far beyond his comfort zone, he cherished the memories made during these adventures. His adventurous spirit taught him valuable lessons about the world and forged lifelong connections.

Above all else, family meant the world to Kent. He treasured spending time with his loved ones, cherishing every moment together. As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother - Kent's compassion and unwavering support were unwavering pillars of strength and love within the family unit.

His memory will be cherished by his family that survives which includes his mother, Dorothy Lester; a son, Parker (Kelly) Lester of Chapin; daughters, Whitney (Justin) Inglett of Hilton Head and Alexa (Cory) McDonald of Columbia; a sister, Penny Sadler and grandchildren, Hampton Lester, Scarlett Lester, Hayes Lester, Sawyer Lester and Finnley Inglett.

He was predeceased by his father, John S. “Chubby” Lester and a brother, Glenn Lester.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service at “Main and Nance”, 1006 Main Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
