Leon Franklin Fulmer, Sr., 79, of Prosperity, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Lexington Health.
Born on October 7, 1946, in West Columbia, he was the son of the late Julius Carlisle and Ruby Amick Fulmer. He graduated from Midlands Technical College and had served six years in the South Carolina National Guard. Leon worked for Glassmaster and retired from Shakespeare as a design engineer.
He was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Church Council, the Lutheran Men and had served as a Sunday School teacher, and Youth Advisor. He was a charter member of the Fairview Fire Department in 1962 and had also been a member of the Mid Carolina Lions Club as a charter member.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Brenda Frick Fulmer; a daughter, Lynnette (Todd) Lever of Pomaria; a son, Leon (Meredith) Fulmer, Jr. of Prosperity; sisters, Judy Bobb of Newberry and Retha (Steve) Frick of Little Mountain; grandchildren, Will (Tristan) Lever, Shelby (Preston) Bowers, Lee “Leon III” Fulmer, Lyle Fulmer and Noah Fulmer and great-grandchildren, River Lever, Chandler Lever and Sutton Lever.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm Friday, February 13, 2026, at Macedonia Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dave Tholstrup, Rev. Wako Cotney and Rev. Randy Derrick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home of Newberry.
Memorials may be made to Macedonia Lutheran Church, 49 Macedonia Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
Active pallbearers will be Eddie Cannon, Zachary Maghsoud, Rusty Fulmer, Mark Hipp, Jason Fulmer, Patrick Hawkins, Don Richardson and Paul Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fairview Fire Department, members of the Macedonia Church Council, and members of the Lutheran Men and Women.
