Linda Ann Chapman Dowd, 82, of Prosperity, widow of Donald Ellis Dowd, died July 5, 2026, at White Oak Manor of Newberry.

Born on September 21, 1943, in Pomaria, she was a daughter of the late Hugh Burnell and Anna Ruff Chapman. Linda had worked for the Newberry County School District and the VC Summer Nuclear Plant. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a son, Donald Elton (Tanya) Dowd of Hollywood; daughters, Jenny Lynn Dowd of Prosperity and Leann (Curt) London of Chapin; grandchildren, Lauren (Chris) Votruba, Kaitlyn (Charlie) Garrison, Brandon (Kelli) Dowd, Justin Dowd, Madison (Robert) Harmon and Erika London; great-grandchildren, Cooper Votruba, Harper Votruba and Ford Dowd and a brother-in-law, Aubey Wicker of Pomaria. She was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Wicker.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church by the Rev. Cathy Fanslau. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Brandon Dowd, Justin Dowd, Chris Votruba, Robert Harmon, Nathan Wicker, Allen Williams and Daniel Wicker.
