Lloyd Chapman Layman, 94, of Newberry, widower of Faye Fellers Layman, died Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Newberry Health.
Born on December 10, 1930 in Peak, he was the son of the late Lloyd Layman and Bernice Chapman Fergeson. Mr Layman was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from the South Carolina National Guard. He retired from P.C.A. and was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Lloyd enjoyed working in his yard and loved helping his neighbors. He enjoyed all sports, especially baseball. Lloyd was a die hard fan of the Atlanta Braves and the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.
He is survived by a son, Sonny Layman and his wife Stewart; grandsons, Luke Layman, and Nick Layman and his wife Blair. He was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Pritchard.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 25, 2025 in St. Philip's Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Rev. Matthew Titus. The family will receive friends Monday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Layman from 5:00 pm until 7:00 PM.
The family suggests that those desiring, may make memorials to the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1515 Boundary Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
