Lucia J. Caldwell

Lucia Josey Caldwell, 95, of Chapin, widow of George Harvey Caldwell, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Long's Residential Care.

Born on August 15, 1920, in Bishopville, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Edith Scarborough Josey. She attended Coker College and Furman College. Mrs. Caldwell was retired from Little Mountain Construction Company. She was a member of Cannon's Creek Prosperity A.R.P. Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by a son, Kinney Dalle Caldwell of Prosperity; a daughter, Debra Caldwell Shealy of Newberry; a sister-in-law, Mary Josey; grandchildren, Cody Caldwell, Amber Lominick, Jay Carraway and Keely Livingston and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by all of her siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, March 12, 2016, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jimmy Counts. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 – 2:30 pm at the funeral home on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 140 Stoneridge Drive, Suite 210, Columbia, SC 29210.
