Lula Williams Bowers, 90, of Prosperity, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026.
Born on January 28, 1936 in Saluda, she was the daughter of the late Bennie and Fairbelle Proctor Williams. She was the wife of the late Joel R. Bowers.
Lula worked at Old School Manufacturing and then at Prosperity Drug Company from which she retired after 25 years. She loved her flowers, watching her butterflies and dancing to the music. Lula enjoyed traveling with her buddy Ms. Jackie Raby whether it was with the Newberry Roadrunners or the church group. Her trips with her late sister, Betty, special niece, Sharon W. Watkins and most of all her mother/daughter trips were especially treasured trips.
Lula was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and an in later years attended Cross Point Church in Newberry.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda (John) Wolfe, JoAnn (Richard) Sligh both of Prosperity and Susan (Virgil) Smith of Newberry; grandchildren, Alison Bowers, Kristie Garner, Shane Sligh, Nathan Smith and Brandon Smith; great-grandchildren, Addie Bowers, McKenzie Garner, Gavin Garner, Graham Sligh, Gabe Sligh and special little Wyatt Smith; sister, Faye W. Shealy, sister-in-law, Virginia Williams and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Bennie (Bobbie) Williams, Donnie Williams, Troy (Paula) Williams and sister and brother-in-law, Betty (David) Slice.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 pm Monday, May 18, 2026, at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Jeff O'Dell. The family will receive friends following the service.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 140 Stoneridge Drive, Suite 210, Columbia, SC 29210 or to Cross Point Church, PO Box 1171, Newberry, SC 29108.
The family would like to thank the Bernardo Hospice Care and Staff and Tammy Metts for the loving care shown to our mother.
The family will be at the home of JoAnn Sligh, 2937 Stoney Hill Road, Prosperity.
