Manuela “Lala” Lopez~Raja of Newberry died suddenly on January 12, 2021 from covid-19 while honeymooning with her husband in South Africa.

Manuela was born October 27, 1971 in Casa Grande AZ. she is the daughter of the late Manuel Acosta Lopez and Fred and Elizabeth Tucker of Newberry.

She is survived by her husband Hassan Raja of Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal South Africa, a daughter Adrianna Lopez, a son Enrique Rojas, granddaughter Malaya Lopez; sisters Valerie (David) Blackburn, Mary Tucker, Teresa Tucker, Fred Tucker Jr , neice Kelianne (Rory) Poston  and nephew Andrew Lopez all of Newberry.

Manuela is preceded in death by her son, Manuel Fredrico Lopez.

Manuela is a graduate of Newberry High School Class of 1989 and was in the process of obtaining a nursing degree from Piedmont Technical College. Manuela was a long time member of The Glory Tabernacle Church. She was employed by the Newberry County Disabilities and Special Needs. Manuela spent her free time with family & friends. she enjoyed cooking/baking and is known for her decadent coconut cake, she adored bargain shopping & going to concerts. She had a love of coach purses and the band Guns and Roses.

Graveside services will be held at Rosemont Cemetery on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 12 noon. The service will be conducted by pastor Joel Lee Mundy.

Those attending will be asked to please wear a mask.

Pallbearers will be David Blackburn, Andrew Lopez , Terry Tucker, Joe Carter, Fred Tucker Jr , and Roman Rojas.
