Marie W. Sligh

Marie “MaMa Rea” Wicker Sligh, 91, of Newberry, died Thursday, April 28, 2016, at her residence.

Born on September 14, 1924, in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late Willie McFee and Nannie Mae Perry Wicker. She was retired from General Electric and was a member of Colony Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Sligh is survived by her husband, Ralph E. Sligh; a son, Larry Gene (Teresa) Sligh of Lexington; a daughter, Sandra Sligh Amick of Newberry; a sister, Clara Beatrice Willard of Greenwood; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Willie Mae Sligh and brothers, Haskell Eugene Wicker and Charles Linburg Wicker.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, May 1, 2016, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bill Ebner. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1:30 – 2:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Wayne Willard, Terry Willard, Allen Sligh, Gregg Glymph, Carroll Long and Wally Lee.

Honorary pallbearers will be Keith & Ann Sims, Allen Clark and Theresa Halfacre.
