Marilyn Bickley Plampin, 91, of Little Mountain, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at her home.
Born on January 21, 1934 in Lexington, she was the daughter of F. Erby and Esther Fulmer Bickley. Marilyn was a 1952 graduate of Brookland Cayce High School and a 1953 graduate of Draughons Business College. She married James E. Plampin in 1953 and in 1955 had a son, James “Pete” Plampin, Jr. In 1957 her second son, Jeffrey Plampin was born. In 1957 the family moved to Atlanta, where she was employed by Sientific-Atlanta, Inc. for 24 years. She began her career with them as a secretary and after several promotions completed her career as the General Accounting Supervisor over domestic and international orders for telecommunications equipment. In 1988 she moved to Little Mountain where she resided until her death.
Marilyn's hobbies included crochet, knitting, needlepoint, cross-stitch, sewing, quilting, crossword puzzles and cards. She entered the SC State Fair with her crochet and knitting and won many ribbons for her work submitted.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she was involved with the Prayer Shawl Ministry and the Happy Mountaineers.
She is survived by a a dedicated and loving niece who was her caregiver, Debby MacKenzie and other niece and nephews, Melanie Bickley, Ray Bickley and Mike Bickley. She also has a number of cousins who survive.
Marilyn was predeceased by her sons, James “Pete Plampin and Jeffrey Plampin and brothers, Everette R. Bickley and Michael F. Bickley.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Randy Drafts. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the Trinity Life Center from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Thursday.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 186, Little Mountain, South Carolina 29075.
Active pallbearers will be James Wieters, Ivan Birochak, Vincent Birochak, Tony Shell, Tyler Shell and Tanner Shell.
