Martha Jo Wicker

Martha Jo Shealy Wicker, 83, of Little Mountain, widow of Walter Derrill Wicker, died Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on May 10, 1939, in Chapin, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Malcolm and Stella Irene Summer Shealy.  Mrs. Wicker ran a home day care for a number of years before going to work for Kyzer Roth Hosiery Mill and following retirement she worked at the Back Porch Restaurant. She was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a son, Jason Derrill (Melissa) Wicker of Chapin; a daughter, Melissa Anne (Craig) Harmon of Chapin; sisters, Frances Bowers and Vivian Cameron both of Chapin; grandchildren, Linda Summer Harmon, Madelyn Grace Wicker and fiancée, Jacob Pender and Brooke Alexandra Wicker.  Mrs. Wicker was predeceased by sisters, Judith Cumalander, Mildred Turner and Alma Cumalander and brothers, Donald Shealy and George William Shealy.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, December 11, 2022, at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Rev. Gary Bradenburg.  The family will receive friends following the service.  Memorials may be made to The Screaming Eagles, 2240 US Highway 76, Little Mountain, SC 29075.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of White Oak Manor and the third floor staff at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
