Mary Counts Ruff, 92, of Pomaria, widow of Marion Leo Ruff, died Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at her residence.
Born on August 17, 1928, in Little Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Clarence A. and Ruth Riddle Counts. She was retired from the USDA and was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church. Mrs. Ruff had been an active member of her church where she was a member of WELCA, the Golden Agers, a former church councilman and had been the secretary of the Sunday School for many years. She was also a former of member of the Newberry Road Runners.
She is survived by a son, Randy Ruff of Pomaria; a daughter, Sandy Ruff of Chapin; brothers, Bobby (Betty) Counts and Donald (Eloise) Counts both of Little Mountain and grandchildren, Joshua Ruff, Haley (Chad) Oates and Derek (Allison) Ruff. Mrs. Ruff was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Marianne Ruff and a brother, Carroll Counts.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 17, 2021, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church by the Rev. Steve Jackson and the Rev. Steven Counts. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to St. Matthews Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 170, Pomaria, SC 29126.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Ruff, Marty Ruff, Chris Ruff, Brian Blanchard, Kevin Counts and Keith Counts.
The family would like to extend special thanks to her caregivers, Eva Curry, Ida Chapman, and Comfort Care Hospice that includes especially Lisa Foxworth.
