Mary Ellen Mims

Mary Ellen Spratt Mims, 92, of Newberry, widow of Carl Wesley Mims, died Monday, July 30, 2018, at Springfield Place.

Born on October 12, 1925, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Rober and Carlene Bigham Spratt. She graduated in 1942 from Newberry College after completing a four year degree in just three years. Mrs. Mims formerly worked at Garber's Department Store, was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church and the VFW.

She is survived by a son, David (Vickie) Mims of Hendersonville, NC; a sister, Rebecca Gilliam of Newberry and grandsons, John Mims and Michael Mims.

Gravesidel services will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Newberry Memorial Gardensl by the Rev. Jimmy Counts.
