Mary Rebecca Lindler Long, 87, of Pomaria, died Friday, March 13, 2020 at her residence.
Born on April 6, 1932 in Chapin, she was a daughter of the late Ernest R. and Ruth Amick Lindler. Mrs. Long was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and had retired after many years as a cook at Garmany Elementary School. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener. She could touch anything and make it grow. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by sons, Steven Long (Brenda Bailess), Caroll (Debra) Long and James (Judy) Long; a daughter, Linda Wedaman; sisters, Christine Dowd, Cathy Glymph and Jenny Freeman; a brother, J.R. Lindler; grandchildren, Stacie Long, Justin (Danielle) Long, Jonathan (Alysia) Wedaman, Wendy (Kevin) Shealy and Tammy (Chad) Morris and great-grandchildren, Riley Long, Holt Wedaman, Morgan Shealy, Jennifer Shealy, Sam Morris and Amanda Morris. Mrs. Long was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Junius Gilbert Long; a son-in-law, George David Wedaman, sisters, Veita Rae Farr, Shirley Emanuel and Margie Monts and a sister-in-law, Shirley Lindler.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, March 16, 2020 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church by the Rev. Arden Hallman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Sunday at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. The family will be at her residence from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm on Saturday. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Bonner, Bud Dowd, Allen Farr, Buddy Livingston, Derrick Livingston and Kevin Shealy.
The family would like to thank Glenda's Care, the staff of MSA Hospice for their loving care, Dr. Phillip Baldwin and Dr. Carroll Pinner III.
