Mattie Shealy Boozer, 101 years old, of Prosperity, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 17, 2018. She passed at her home surrounded by family. Mrs. Boozer lived a life devoted to God, caring for her family and showing us what a life of faith looks like.

Mrs. Boozer was born on April 26, 1917 in Little Mountain, SC to the late Charles Edward “Ed” Shealy and Melissa Frick Shealy. She was the widow of James Edwin “Ed” Boozer and was preceded in death by sons, Tony Boozer and Tim Boozer of Prosperity and a great-grandson, David Lee Black of Batesburg. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter & caregiver, Judith Boozer of the home and other daughters, Nancy (William) Johnston of Prosperity, Beverly (Leon) Shealy of Leesville, Janice (Clyde) Hendrix of Leesville and daughters-in-law, Ann Boozer and Judy Boozer of Prosperity; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Boozer was the twin sister of Hattie Shealy Boozer of Springfield Place, Newberry. The twins married brothers and lived most of their married lives as neighbors. They had recently celebrated their 101 st birthdays on April 26.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, May 21, 2018 at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home by the Rev. Dennis Campbell with burial to follow at St. Luke's Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive condolences at the funeral home (11:00 am - 12:00 pm) prior to the funeral and at other times at 137 J. Edwin Boozer Drive. Memorials may be made to the Boys Farm, PO Box 713, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Tim Boozer, Scottie Boozer, Stacey Shealy, Ken Clarkson, Regan Grubbs, Tyler Grubbs and Davey Hendrix.
