Maxine Sutphin

Maxine Seivers Sutphin, 91, of Newberry, died Thursday, September 7, 2017 at White Oak Manor.

Born on August 9 ,1926, in Walkertown, N.C., she was a daughter of the late George and Ella Lucinda Stanley Seivers.

She is survived by her husband, Rupert Clinton Sutphin; sons, Leslie A. Sutphin (Karen) of Columbia, Galen C. Sutphin (Rahe) of Columbia, and Dwight D. Sutphin (Cindy) of West Columbia; daughters, Atonia Walpole (Bob) of Columbia, and Lisa Hawes (Eddy) of Georgetown; 9 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Gladys Barneycastle and Inez Whitehart; and a granddaughter, Danielle Sutphin.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 9, 2017 in Southland Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Tim Ebo. Visitation will be Friday from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank the staff of White Oak Manor and MSA Hospice staff for their loving care.
