McHardy "Mac" Way

McHardy Mower “Mac” Way, 76, of Newberry, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at White Oak Manor.

Born on July 2, 1949, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Powell E. Way, Jr. and Elizabeth Mower Way. Mac retired from the Newberry Housing Authority and was a member of College Street Church where he had been a choir member. He was a member of the Newberry Gun Club where he actively participated and won numerous awards and trophies. His happiest times, however, were when he shared his love for hunting and fishing. Hunting deer, quail and ducks were his primary hunting quest.

Mac is survived by sons, McHardy Way, Jeremy Bouknight and Jason Maroney; daughters, LeAnn Harrison and Jessica Bullard; a brother, Powell Way; a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Way; eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a dear and close friend, Wilson Bowles and good friend and caregiver, Denise Pitt.
