Miriam Evelyn Dawkins Dennis, 88, of Newberry, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at White Oak Manor.

Miriam was born on April 20, 1938 to the late William Mosby “Bob” Dawkins and Doris Bowers Dawkins. She was a graduate of Prosperity High School, and worked at Prosperity Drug for several years until she married her husband, Belton Wright Dennis. Miriam was a dedicated wife, mother, and friend who truly enjoyed being of service to anyone that needed a helping hand. She loved her Lord, and her church family at St. Luke's Lutheran, where she served faithfully. She taught both kindergarten Sunday School class and at Vacation Bible School for a number of years. She was also a member of the Faye Ruff L.C.W. Circle. One of the ways Miriam enjoyed serving most was through bringing bulletins and Sunday service recordings to those unable to attend, whether they be at home or a nursing home. She also enjoyed square dancing, and she and her husband were members of the Mid-Carolina Twirlers for many years.

Miriam is survived by her daughters, Lynette (Keith) Ballington and Donna (Randy Oliver) Dennis, and her sister, Barbara Dawkins Boland.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Belton Wright Dennis, and her baby brother, Bruce Dawkins.
