Myra Bowers Moore, of Prosperity widow of George S. Moore, died Monday, October 5, 2009 at Palmetto Health Baptist Medical Center.

Born on August 29, 1921 in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late L.L. “Doc” and Ruth Long Bowers. She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church and a member of the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class. During her years of service at Bethel she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a former choir member and soloist for the associations Singing Convention.

She is survived by daughters; Vivian M. Gore and Ramona Moore both of Prosperity; a daughter-in law, Judy Moore and a son-in-law, Henry Franklin; grandchildren, Kevin (Charlene) Moore, Charles (April) Moore, Eric (Rhonda) Moore, Rhiannon (Jeremy) Larsen, and Aaron (Corie) Franklin; great-grandchildren Daniel and Olivia, Josie and Zeke, Emma and Sam Moore, Mya and Alli Larsen. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sons, Tommy Moore and Randy Moore, daughters Chloe Dennis and Crystal Franklin, a daughter-in-law, Nancy Moore , a son –in-law, Bennett Dennis and a sister, Elaine Shealy.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Rob White. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be at her residence and they will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Gatch, Dr. William Engen, Gerald Bedenbaugh, Ted Davis, Terry Cotney, Von Hendrix, Jared Jones, Jeff Ocker, and Charles Moore.
