Nancy Lou Fowler Spells, 84, of Newberry, widow of Isadore Spells, died Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at her residence.

Born on December 27, 1935, in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Edgar and Mattie Inez Brown Fowler. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed life and family. Mrs. Spells enjoyed the sport of baseball and especially watching the Braves. Her other interest included playing cards, weather watching, fishing, auctions, bingo, band competitions, blue grass music and going to the mountains.

Mrs. Spells is survived by her children, Nancy Renea Fowler, Steve M. (Ernest) O'Donald; step-children, Barbara Spells, Robert Spells and Brad Bright; grandchildren, Jose (Rita) Jimenez, Sabrina (Nathan) Hamilton, Marleina Kingsmore, Brandon O'Donald, Kylee O'Donald, Jessie Feagin, Chris Spells and Kevin Spells and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings, Roy A. Fowler, Paul E. Fowler, Nellie R. Fowler Wortman, and Carnel Morgan Deaton.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Glendale Cemetery in Spartanburg by Pastor Karen O'Donald. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Those attending are reminded of the COVID 19 social distancing rules and masks are strongly encouraged.

Active pallbearers will be Nathan Hamilton, Brad Bright, Chris Spells and Kevin Spells.

Honorary pallbearers will be Barbara Spells, William Hamilton, Robert Spells and Jessie Fagin.
