Olin "Hub"
Lominick
Jul 8, 1940 — Sep 8, 2026
Pomaria
Olin Hugh “Hub” Lominick, Jr., 86, of Pomaria, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Greenwood Rehabilitation Hospital.
Olin was born July 8, 1940, in Newberry, South Carolina, to the late Olin Hugh Lominick, Sr. and Mary Folk Lominick. As the oldest of the children Olin naturally carried on a strong sense of responsibility and love for his family. Throughout his 86 years that same love and devotion remained at the center of who he was.
Olin was a proud member of the last graduating class of Pomaria High School, Class of 1958. After graduation, he worked for the South Carolina Highway Department before answering the call to serve his country as a member of the Army Reserves. When he completed his service in 1963, he began what would become a long and respected career in the logging industry.
Olin poured his heart and hard work into his logging business. He was a man who believed in working hard, doing things right and taking pride in what he accomplished.
His dedication to the logging industry was recognized in 1991, when he received the South Carolina Outstanding Logger of the Year Award from the South Carolina Forestry Association.
But logging was only one part of of Olin's life. He was also a farmer, raising soybeans, corn, wheat and beef cattle. He loved the land and understood the value of hard work. Whether he was working in the woods, tending to crops, caring for his cattle or spending time with his family, Olin was happiest when he was busy doing what he loved.
His faith was another important part of his life. Olin was a longtime member of St. Philip's Lutheran Church were he served on the church council several times. His church, his faith and the people around him were important pieces of the life he built.
Those who knew Olin will remember much more than the work he accomplished. They will remember the husband who loved his wife for six decades, the father who was proud of his children, the Pop whose grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him so much happiness, the brother who loved his family, and the friend who could always be counted on.
His life was one of hard work, perseverance, faith and love. The greatest part of his legacy is not an award or a business, but the family he leaves behind and the memories he created with them. His hands may no longer be working the land or the woods, but the life he built will continue through the people he loved.
Thoug his family will deeply miss him, they can find comfort knowing that Olin is now at peace and reunited with the loved ones who went before him. They find special comfort in knowing that Blake, Jane and Chris were there to welcome Pop, brother and loved one home.
He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Ann Waites Lominick. Together, they built a life filled with family, hard work, faith, and countless memories. He is also survived by his son, Scott Lominick, and his wife, Amber, and his daughter, Connie Shirey and her husband, Tracey.
One of Olin's greatest joys was being a grandfather and a great-grandfather. He is survived by his grandchildren, Carley Shirey, Jack Lominick, Scotlyn Lominick, Lawson Lominick and Weston Lominick and his great-grandchildren, Wyatt Shirey, Sawyer Shirey, Taegan Hendrex, Avalee Shirey and Charlie Shirey. Each of them brought a special kind of happiness and pride into his life, and the lessons, stories, laughter, and love he gave them will remain with them for generations to come.
Olin is also survived by his brother, Bobby Lominick and his wife, Jennylee and his sister, Dianne Lominick.
He is also survived by special friends, Larry Cromer, Larry Higgins and Dr. Oscar Lovelace.
Olin was preceded in death by his first born grandchild, Blake Shirey. Blake's passing left a place in the family's hearts that could never be filled. Today, however, they find comfort in believing that Blake was there to welcome his beloved Pop home, along with Olin's sister, Jane Ringer, and his brother, Chris Lominick. There is comfort in knowing that the people he loved and missed were there waiting for him.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, September 11, 2026, at St. Philip's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will be at his residence, and will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm.
