Otis Bobb

d. November 3, 2017

Otis David Bobb, 82, of Chapin, widower of Betty Ruth Abney Bobb, died Thursday, November 2, 2017, at St. Mary's Memory Care in Athens, Georgia.

Born on August 29, 1935 in Prosperity, he as a son of the late Johnny and Emma Mae Johnson Bobb. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, the owner of Carolina Parts and a member of Lake Murray Presbyterian Church.

He was a man of generous spirit, whose giving nature knew few boundaries. His turn of phrases will live on with family and friends as a way to recall his wit. He spent his last days declining from dementia, but only in the last few years did he loose those key facets of his personality. After moving to Highland Hills Memory Care, he was cared for by a talented staff of nurses and caregivers who helped his family make his remaining days safe and peaceful. Although his mind left long before his body succumbed, his memory lives on as a giving father and faithful friend.

Mr. Bobb is survived by a son, Jason Bobb of Chapin; a daughter, Meredith (Christian) Turner of Athens, GA; a sister, Eva Mae Somer of Newberry; brothers, Robert Earl Bobb of Prosperity and Larry Bobb of Newberry; grandchildren, Rigel Turner and Abney Turner. He was predeceased by a son, Tony Bobb and siblings, Blanche Cromer, Mary Cromer, Ola Belle Abott and John Bobb.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, November 6, 2017, at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. James Shealy. Memorials may be made to Highland Hills Memory Care of St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, Georgia (1230 Baxter Street, Athens, GA 30605).
