Peggy Anne Hipp Boozer Garrett, 91, of Batesburg, died on Friday, August 21, 2026 at her home.

She was born in Newberry County on August 26, 1934 to the late Marvin and Gussie Lou Mills Hipp.

Peggy was a graduate of Stoney Hill School, and worked at Stanley Home Products for 44 years as a sales representative. She loved her work, and would drive across counties to bring folks the supplies they needed. Peggy had a heart for people. She held many gatherings at her home, loved cooking for others, most especially for her family, playing Bingo, and just enjoying being in the company of those she loved. Her Lord Jesus Christ was most important to her, and she enjoyed leading a simple, faith-centered life.

Peggy is survived by her sons, Kenneth Wayne (Rosemond) Boozer and Leslie Purcell Boozer; grandchildren, Cain (April) Boozer and their children, Grant, Gavin, and Brynn; Barret (Shelley) Boozer and their children, Caleb, Allie, and Morgan; Heather Shaw and her children, Abigail, Ethan, and Jax; Robert (Tiffany) Boozer and their children, Carson, Aubree, and Dawson; Anthony Boozer; and Marilyn (Cory) Stokes and their children, Caylee, Caroline, Camberlyn, and Calayah. She is also survived by brothers, Donnie and Ronnie Hipp, step-daughter, Ginger Garrett, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband, George Cook Garrett; brother, Cornelius “Pee Wee” Hipp; sisters, Dessie Boozer and Narvis Werts; and step-son, Gregg Garrett.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held at the funeral home the hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family would like to specially thank the caretakers of Acts of Love, Miss Dee, Nichole Hendrix, Niah Hendrix, and Crystal Derrick, as well as the caretakers of Amedisys Hospice for their exceptional care of Peggy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 80 Zion Circle, Prosperity, SC 29127.
