Rachel Smith Richardson

Rachel Thelma Smith Richardson, 81, of Prosperity, widow of Raymond O'Neal Richardson, died Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Prisma Health Richland.

Born on January 24, 1941, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Heber and Mary Wicker Smith. She was retired after 25 years of service form McKechnie Vechicle Components. Mrs. Richardson was a member of St. Philip's Lutheran Church where she was involved with WELCA and the Joy Fellowship. She was a member of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by a son, Robert (Mellisa) Richardson of Prosperity; sisters, Gertice Rister of Chapin, and Mary Jean McCarson of Prosperity; brothers, Earl Smith and Billy Smith both of Newberry and Leroy Smith of Lexington; grandchildren, Amanda (Zach) Haire, Joshua Richardson, John Watson and Nicole McHugh. Mrs. Richardson was predeceased by sisters, Reba Nell Rollins, Fannie Mae Walton and Iona Frick and brothers, George Smith and Johnny Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am Saturday, July 30, 2022, at St. Philip's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Philip's Lutheran Church, 2461 St. Philip's Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Ricky Smith, Adam Smith, Donnie Evans, Edward Richardson, Zach Haire and John Watson.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult B Sunday School Class of St. Philip's Lutheran Church.
