Ralph Schumpert Lewis, 77, of Prosperity, died Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on September 23, 1943, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Jesse W. and Myra Schumpert Lewis. He was a 1965 Graduate of Clemson College where he was the first graduate of the Food Science and Technology Curriculum. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He retired from the Food and Drug Industry after many years of service and was a partner in a car repair and tire business in San Antonio, TX. After living away for 35 years he and his wife retired back to Newberry County. He had a love for gardening. He was a life long learner and enjoyed reading and discussing politics. His greatest joy however, was his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Andrea Shealy Lewis; sons, Jesse (Kelly) Lewis of Prosperity and Chad (Debbie) Lewis of Midlothian, VA; a daughter, Amanda (Stefan) Holt of Gray Court; grandchildren, Allie Pergerson, Fritz W. Lewis, Graylyn Lewis, Reagan Lewis, Collin Holt, Dawson Lewis, Christopher Holt, and Meagan (Jacob) Bellar; a dear lifelong friend, Willie Mendenhall; and a number of dear nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers, Burton Lewis and Hugh Lewis.

The family will be at their home on Hollands Landing Road.

Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 3, 2021 in Prosperity Cemetery by the Rev. Michael Price. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, General Fund, PO Box 188, Prosperity, SC 29127 or to Habitat For Humanity, 322 W. Lamar Street, Americus, GA 31709-9906.

Friends may come by the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home from Saturday between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM to view and sign the guest register.
