Ray Amick

Carol Ray Amick, 77, of Prosperity, died July 27, 2023 at his home in Maggie Valley, N.C.

Born on November 28, 1945 in Newberry, he was the son of the late Sammie Evans and Toye Amick.

Mr. Amick retired from the South Carolina Department of Transportation as a Roadway Engineer. He was a life-long member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Newberry Lion's Club and a Mason. Ray enjoyed hunting, collecting arrowheads and farming. His favorite thing to do however, was to watch NASCAR.

He is survived by his wife Betty Sheppard Amick; a son, Michael Todd Amick, his wife Debbie and step-granddaughter, Shelby of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a daughter, Monica Amick-Cassidy and her husband Michael of West Columbia; step-daughters, Tina Leitzsey , Nan Spicer and her husband Jeremy, and Lory Wicker and her husband Jeff; a step son, Chuck Leitzsey and his wife Melody; sisters, Nancy Fulmer and her husband Jerry of Lexington, Melba Murphy of West Columbia, and Kay A. Smith of West Columbia; a special step-granddaughter, Aliyana Mendenhall;10 step-grandchildren;10 step-geat-grandchildren;a special niece, Terri Roberts; and a number of nieces and nephews

He was predeceased by a sister, Martha Rotan.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00PM Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at St. Peter Lutheran Church . Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Cemetery Fund, 900 Dreher Island Road, Chapin, SC 29036.

Active pall bearers will be Jeffery Smith, Hunter Leitzsey, Evan Dawkins, Kenny Fulmer, Doug Fulmer,and Dwayne Dawkins

Honorary pall bearers will be the SCDOT- Dirty Dozen, the Newberry Lion's Club, and Dr. Carroll Pinner.
