Ray "Winky" Dalton

Ray William “Winky” Dalton, 69, of Chappells, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, at his home.

Born on November 30, 1954, in Orangeburg, he was a son of the late Joseph Johnny William Dalton and Eula Esther Farmer Dalton.  He worked at J.P. Stevens in Whitmire and retired as a supervisor with Kiswire.  He was a member of Bonds Crossroads Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Mr. Dalton is survived by his wife, Peggy Sue Carson Dalton; sons, Earl (Lynn) Dalton of Chappells and Scott (Brandi) Dalton of Clinton; a daughter, Tonya James of Clinton; a sister, Bonita (Sam) Nelson of Laurens; brothers, Jackie Waters and Larry Dalton both of Clinton; ten grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Dalton was predeceased by sisters, Brenda Gail Dalton and Darlene Tobias, brothers, Robert Earl Dalton and J. W. Dalton and a grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 5, 2024, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home by the Rev. Kile Antone. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be J.R. Dalton, C.J. Anderson, M.J. May, Javey May, Kent Prather and Stanley Stone.
