Rev. Joseph Walker

Reverend Joseph Eugene Walker, 94, of 531 Stacie Lane, Richburg, SC, died Sunday, July 25, 2010.

He was the widower of Edith Teague Walker and a native of Oconee County, S.C. He was the son of the late Wilton E. and Hattie Morris Walker. The Rev. Walker was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He had pastored Glenn Street Baptist Church in Newberry and other churches in Chester, Lancaster, Anderson and Spartanburg.

He is survived by daughters, Jean Pleasant and her husband, Richard, of West Columbia; Judy LeDoux and her husband, Ron, of Richburg, and Cecile Queen of Lowrys; sister, Helen Walker of Honea Path; ten grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by grandson, Jeffery Clark and son-in-law, Timothy Queen.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Pollard Funeral Home in Chester. The graveside funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Chester Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Connie Maxwell Children's Home, P.O. Box 1178 Greenwood, SC 29648.
